Who We Are
Historic Preservation Group, LLC is a historic preservation consulting firm specializing in the successful delivery of federal and state historic tax credits to a range of clients that include private developers and building owners, non-profit organizations, and institutional building owners. HP Group also provides a variety of other preservation services including evaluation of historic tax credit eligibility, writing National Register nominations, survey and inventory of historic resources, historic building condition assessments and maintenance plans, historic rehabilitation planning, and project management to protect historic tax credits through construction.
HP Group is a 100% female-owned and operated business founded in 2014 by Heather Rudge. Ms. Rudge brings over 25 years of historic preservation expertise to HP Group with experience ranging from creating and running “bricks and mortar” technical assistance and rehabilitation funding programs to focusing the last 13 years on the successful delivery of federal and state historic tax credits to projects varying in size from single buildings to entire building complexes. Ms. Rudge has long-standing working relationships with the Ohio Historic Preservation Office, the Ohio Development Services Agency, and the National Park Service, the three agencies charged with reviewing and approving historic tax credit applications.
With Ms. Rudge’s portfolio of experience, HP Group pursues outcomes that demonstrate quality service and products to clients. For clients desiring to use historic tax credits, HP Group is an expert at establishing eligibility for buildings not currently listed in the National Register of Historic Places. With every historic tax credit project, HP Group’s goal is to effectively and creatively manage and balance the client’s desired rehabilitation project within the established historic tax credit guidelines to ensure project certification. Ms. Rudge’s successful track record on federal Part 2 approvals, state tax credit allocations, and her 100% Part 3 Certification record sets the benchmark for client satisfaction.
