The former St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Church was converted to the new office headquarters of Olympic Forest Products. Historic Preservation Group wrote the federal and state historic tax credit applications for the rehabilitation of the church and attached rectory and provided construction monitoring. Exterior work included installation of a new roof on the church and rectory, repair of the copper tower domes, masonry restoration, reconstruction of the stone and brick entrance stair to match the original, restoration of the rose window and the simple colored-glass sanctuary windows and the patterned glass basement windows, and ADA accessibility for the multi-level building.
On the interior, the historic volume of space was preserved in the former sanctuary and fellowship hall by utilizing an open office design and butt-glazed enclosures where more privacy was needed and running all MEP systems above ceilings and within soffits and walls. A new, contemporary stair was added to connect the two large spaces. The former altar and fellowship hall stage were converted to conference space and the former choir loft is now used for meeting flex space. The rectory houses private offices, the kitchen and a gym. A five-stop elevator was installed to service the two levels in the former church and four floors of the rectory.
Olympic Forest Products (former St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Church) was selected to receive the 2021 Distinguished Retrofit of a Sacred Landmark Award from the Cleveland Restoration Society and AIA Cleveland.
